Chapter 11
Kyle
âI need it on my desk by the end of the day,â I snapped into the phone before slamming it back down on the receiver.
âWoah,â Luis, my head VP of operations, teased, holding up his hands. âItâs not that serious, man.â
I paced the length of my office, Luis watching me out of the corner of his eye.â
âEveryone is being extra incompetent today.â
Or maybe I was just extra irritated.
âWell, the whole accounting department is probably down there working their asses off, so thatâs something,â Luis said, examining the expensive gold watch on his writs.
Luis and I had been coworkers and friends since I started my company after college. I wouldnât say I needed anyone in my life outside of my family, but I needed Luis. I trusted him, and my trust was hard earned. Heâd never steered me wrong, both in my personal life and my professional life.
âWell, if money is missing, I need to know. It looks like it was just a simple accounting error, but if they canât catch it when I did only looking at the accounts for ten minutes, then Iâm firing the whole department.â
âKyle,â Luis said with a laugh. âWhat the fuck is up, man? Youâre raging like no other right now.â
I blew out a breath, trying to calm myself, and took my seat behind my desk. Luis turned back around in his chair to face me, looking down at his phone.
âAm I boring you?â I asked.
âHey, donât take your frustrations out on me,â he said. But, he slid his phone in his pocket. âYouâre in the worst mood Iâve seen you in since you broke your leg and couldnâtâ¦Oh shit.â Luis laughed. âThatâs it, isnât it? You havenât been laid in too long, and now youâre grumpy.â
âThatâs not it,â I said.
It pissed me off that Luis knew me so well. I didnât want to be so obvious in my needs, and I guessed he was the only one who would be able to track my patterns like that, but still, I didnât like it. I also didnât like that he was right.
Kind of.
The combination of not having sex in over a month and being jealous over some lower-level employee was more than I could handle. I didnât want Emma, or any woman, to have that kind of power over me. But, I already knew Emma did. And that pissed me off even more.
âYou know youâre a billionaire, right? And, form what the ladies say, youâre not terrible looking either. You should have no problems in the dating world.â
âI said thatâs not it,â I snapped, only further proving his point.
Luisâs dark eyes looked at me very, very pointedly.
I sighed. âIâm just having a rough day.â
âListen, your new assistant, Emily, is super fine. Iâm sure you can work something out there.â He raised his black eyebrows at me.
âEmma,â I corrected. âMy assistantâs name is Emma and sheâs too valuable to just fuck and forget.â Not to mention that Iâd been trying to forget fucking her since it happened.
